Purpose

The Boonville & Cooper County Area Community Calendar is an interactive, website program that enables the community to post, view and search for events of broad interest to the community.  The calendar is a tool for the public to advertise and promote community events and activities, as well as a helpful guide to make the planning process easier for those promoting their events.

Guidelines

Calendar postings are designed to announce one-time or special events or programs, not regularly scheduled activities (i.e., church services, exercise classes, etc.).  Postings should be educational, social, cultural, or recreational events in the Boonville and Cooper County Area. They need to be open to the general public, sponsored by not-for-profit, civic, social, charitable, fraternal, local agencies or other organizations promoting large events. All entries must be submitted by one event organizer and that persons contact information needs to be included.  It is important for entries to be accurate upon submission, change requests made after submission should be minor in nature otherwise the event could be reevaluated for resubmission.

Each submission will be reviewed by the Calendar Coordinator and/or the Community Calendar Committee, which reserves the right to decline event submissions, or edit event information for language, spelling and clarity. Events will not be discriminated against for any reason and will follow the Federal Nondiscrimination laws.

Examples of postings that will be included on the calendar that would be free of charge are:

  • Fairs, Festivals, Carnivals or Circuses
  • Fund raising events (church dinners, school fund raisers or not-for-profit fundraisers)
  • Motor Sports Events.
  • Community wide garage sales (sponsored by not-for-profits or homeowner associations)
  • Concerts or Music Festivals
  • Parades and community wide celebrations
  • Large sporting events such as tournaments, rodeos, or horse shows that bring visitors to the community.

*A separate event page will be maintained for area businesses who want to promote live entertainment or events at their business location.  There will be a minimal charge to the business for posting on this page.  The cost of the postings will be determined by the Calendar Committee, and the fees will be used to pay for the upkeep costs of the calendar.

Examples of postings that are NOT allowed to be included on the calendar are:

  • K-12 school sporting events, church services and political fundraisers
  • Solicitations will not be allowed to be on the calendar.
  • Individual events like private garage sales, individual fundraisers, birthday parties, reunions, or funerals do not qualify for the event calendar.
  • Any events that involve illegal activity, abuse of animals or is deemed unsafe.
